Rega Aura Reference MCIn einem ganz neu entworfenen Gehäuse ist der Rega Aura ein Spezialist für Moving Coil Tonabnehmer ohne jede Kompromisse. Überflüssige Funktionen, die den Signalweg komplizieren und die Übertragungsgüte beeinflussen könnten haben wir weggelassen. Dieser Vorvorverstärker weist eine ganze Anzahl bemerkenswerter innovativer Design-Merkmale auf. Der Aura ist ein dreistufiger, voll symmetrischer Vorvorverstärker. Eine Komplementär-Gegentakt Schaltung in Class-A Technik bildet die Eingangsstufe, sie besteht aus parallel geschalteten extrem rauscharmen Feldeffekt Transistoren von Linear Systems in Komplementär-Darlington Anordnung. Die Verwendung von Feldeffekt-Transistoren gewährleistet, dass keine unerwünschen Offsetströme den Abtaster belasten können. Man kann bei dieser Schaltung auch auf Koppelkondensatoren verzichten, um jede Beeinträchtigung des kleinen Signals zu vermeiden. Die verwendeten Transistoren werden sorgsam ausgemessen und für beste Übereinstimmung zusammengestellt. Mit der ersten Stufe wird der passive HF-Teil der RIAA Entzerrung angesteuert. Die zweite Stufe des Aura MC ist ein symmetrischer Class-A Differenzverstärker mit Treiber in Basisschaltung und realisiert den tieffrequenten Part der Entzerrung. In der dritten Stufe gibt es eine Phasenumkehr zur Ansteuerung des symmetrischen Ausgangs, sie weist dieselbe Schaltung wie die zweite Stufe auf. Auch die Stromversorgung ist symmetrisch mit Einzeltransistoren aufgebaut, hat schnelle Dioden als Gleichrichter und eine rauscharme Referenzspannungsquelle. Jede Stufe des Verstärkers wird mit lokalen Spannungsreglern und LED-Konstantstromquellen gespeist. Die Versorgungsspannung ist im Interesse der Aussteuerbarkeit 60% höher als in vergleichbaren Schaltungen. Im Signalweg finden sich nur hochwertige Polypropylen-Kondensatoren, in der Entzerrung solche mit 1% Toleranz. Auch der Rest der Schaltung ist nur mit hochwertigen Bauelementen ausgestattet, in der Umschaltung für Mono, Muting und Verstärkung z. B. mit Qualitätsrelais.
