Seit nun 15 Jahren hat Rega seine Linie hochwertiger MC-Tonabnehmer immer weiter verfeinert. Für die Technik schwach gedämpfter Generatoren minimaler Masse mit hochfesten Gehäusen aus einem Stück haben wir den Weg bereitet. In letzter Zeit wurde durch die Verwendung von Magneten aus seltenen Metallen eine neue Stufe der Leistungsfähigkeit erreicht. Die ganze Entwicklung und eine fortgeschrittene Fertigungstechnik wurden in dem erfolgreichen Abtaster Apheta 2 zusammengeführt.

Mit dem Apheta 3 wird abermals ein technologisches Limit angegangen. Seit mehreren Jahren haben wir den „Fine Line“ Nadelschliff weiter optimiert, wie er auch im Spitzenmodell Aphelion eingesetzt wird und die spezielle Montage mit einem Einbauwinkel von 90 Grad erlaubt nunmehr eine noch genauere Detailwiedergabe und höhere musikalische Auflösung bei der Abtastung von Schallplatte. Das System Apheta 3 hat einen extrem leistungsstarken Neodym-Magneten und eine mit großer Sorgfalt von Hand gewickelte Spule auf einem Eisenträger, der nur halb so groß ist wie beim Vorgängermodell. Die damit einhergehende Gewichtseinsparung führt unmittelbar zu besserer Abtastfähigkeit.

Dieses Generatorsystem sitzt in einem völlig neu entworfenen eloxierten Aluminiumträger, der aus einem Stück gefertigt ist und wird mit einer computerberechneten halbtransparenten Abdeckung gegen Beschädigung geschützt. Dieser Tonabnehmer ist eine ideale Ergänzung für die neuen Modelle Rega Planar 8 und Planar 10.
