Der Soulnote D-2 D/A-Wandler stellt eine bahnbrechende Kombination aus innovativen Technologien und außergewöhnlicher Klangqualität dar. Mit einem vollständig symmetrischen und diskreten Non-NFB-Design sowie der Verwendung von vier ES9038PRO-Chips setzt der D-2 neue Maßstäbe in der Audiotechnologie. Der Wandler nutzt den DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) von Texas Instruments, um eine außergewöhnlich präzise und klare Klangwiedergabe zu ermöglichen. Der LMX2594 Synthesizer mit seiner ultraniedrigen Jitterrate von nur 45 fs und einer Phasenrauschleistung von -236 dBc/Hz sorgt für eine beispiellose Präzision bei der Signalverarbeitung und ermöglicht eine tiefere und klarere räumliche Darstellung der Musik.

Ein weiteres herausragendes Merkmal des D-2 ist die Unterstützung für externe Taktgeber mit einem 10 MHz BNC-Anschluss. Dies ermöglicht eine noch genauere Synchronisation und reduziert potenzielle Verzerrungen. Der interne Taktgeber des D-2 basiert auf einem hochpräzisen TCXO (Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator), der mit einem Phasenrauschen von -121 dB bei 10 Hz Offset ebenfalls hervorragende Ergebnisse liefert. Der D-2 verwendet zudem mechanische Hochfrequenzrelais, die den Jitter bei Umschaltvorgängen zwischen internem und externem Taktgeber minimieren.

Die Verwendung von zwei ES9038PRO-Chips pro Kanal für die obere und untere Differenzeingänge gewährleistet eine lebendige und präzise Musikwiedergabe. Diese Chips arbeiten im synchronen Modus, um eine unübertroffene Klangqualität zu erzielen. Zusätzlich unterstützt der D-2 den Non-Oversampling-Modus, der durch das Vermeiden von künstlichen Vor- und Nachechos zu einer noch natürlicheren Klangdarstellung führt. Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Oversampling-Verfahren erzielt der D-2 durch diese Technik eine präzisere Zeitdarstellung der Musik, was zu einer realistischeren und immersiveren Hörerfahrung führt.
