Die AFI (Audio Fidelity Improvement) präsentiert den FLAT.DUO – eine hochpräzise Lösung für anspruchsvolle Vinyl-Liebhaber, Sammler und professionelle Anwender, die Wert auf präzises Bügeln von Schallplatten sowie kontrolliertes Tempern beziehungsweise „Relaxen“ legen. Dabei verbindet das Gerät höchste Prozesssicherheit mit individuell einstellbaren Parametern für Temperatur und Haltezeit. 

Das hochisolierende Gehäuse aus expandiertem Polypropylen (EPP) bildet die Grundlage für die außergewöhnlich stabile Wärmeführung des FLAT.DUO. Der recyclingfähige Werkstoff besteht zu rund 92 % aus Luft und isoliert deutlich effektiver als klassische Metallgehäuse. Dadurch bleibt die Wärme präzise im System, Temperaturverluste werden minimiert und die gesamte Schallplattenoberfläche gleichmäßig erwärmt. Gleichzeitig reduziert sich der Stromverbrauch auf lediglich 25 Watt. Im stationären Betrieb liegt die Temperaturabweichung bei nur ±0,15 °C – ein entscheidender Faktor für reproduzierbare Ergebnisse und maximale Schonung der Schallplatte.

Der FLAT.DUO ermöglicht das gleichzeitige Bearbeiten von zwei Schallplatten in nur einem Arbeitsgang. Möglich wird dies durch das patentierte Huckepack-Verfahren, bei dem zwei Vinyl- oder Schellackplatten übereinander positioniert und gleichmäßig erwärmt werden. Das speziell entwickelte Heiz-Press-Modul verteilt Wärme und Druck kontrolliert über beide Tonträger hinweg. Ein definierter Anpressdruck über den Drehmoment-Rändelgriff sorgt zusätzlich dafür, dass die Platten exakt plan aufliegen. Das Ergebnis ist eine besonders effiziente und zugleich präzise Bearbeitung in nur einem zeitsparenden Durchgang.

Neben dem klassischen Begradigen von Schallplatten bietet der FLAT.DUO eine spezielle Temper- beziehungsweise Relax-Funktion. Dabei wird das Vinyl langsam und kontrolliert bis zur definierten Plateautemperatur erwärmt. Diese Temperatur wird über einen längeren Zeitraum äußerst konstant gehalten, bevor die Schallplatte anschließend gleichmäßig und kontrolliert abkühlt. Der gesamte Prozess dauert dabei bis zu vier Stunden. Durch diese präzise geführte Temperaturkurve werden innere Materialspannungen gezielt reduziert, die beim Pressvorgang der Schallplatte entstehen können. Das Ergebnis ist nicht nur eine stabilere Rillenstruktur, sondern häufig auch eine hörbar gesteigerte Klangqualität mit intensiverer, ausdrucksstärkerer und feinsinnigerer Musikwiedergabe. Gleichzeitig wirkt die Wiedergabe oft ruhiger und homogener, da in vielen Fällen auch Nebengeräusche und Rillengeräusche reduziert werden.
Entscheidend für hochwertige Ergebnisse beim Tempern ist nicht allein die Zieltemperatur, sondern die kontrollierte Führung des gesamten Prozesses. Genau hier zeigt der FLAT.DUO seine Stärke: Gehäusekonstruktion, Heiz-Press-Modul und intelligente Regelungstechnik arbeiten präzise zusammen, damit die Temperatur über die gesamte Schallplattenfläche konstant und reproduzierbar bleibt. Dadurch werden lokale Überhitzungen, Hotspots oder Wärmesenken zuverlässig vermieden – insbesondere im sensiblen Randbereich der Schallplatte. Genau diese homogene Temperaturführung bildet die Grundlage für materialschonende Prozesse und dauerhaft reproduzierbare Ergebnisse.
