Das Farad SuperATX ist ein vollwertiges ATX-Linearnetzteil, das herkömmliche Schaltnetzteile in Musikservern, Audio-PCs und Roon-Cores vollständig ersetzt. Statt getakteter Spannungswandlung setzt Farad konsequent auf drei separate Transformatoren, doppelte Regelung und Supercapacitor-Technik – mit dem Ziel, jede Baugruppe des Rechners mit maximal sauberer Gleichspannung zu versorgen.

Das Schaltnetzteil ist in digitalen Audiosystemen häufig die dominante Störquelle: Es erzeugt hochfrequentes Schaltrauschen, das sich über Masse und Netzleitung in der gesamten Anlage verteilt. Genau an dieser Stelle setzt das SuperATX an.

Fünf Rails, drei Transformatoren, 20 Regelungsstufen

Die Architektur des SuperATX ist konsequent aufgeteilt: Drei Transformatoren speisen fünf voneinander getrennte Rails, die jeweils doppelt geregelt ausgeführt sind. Insgesamt arbeiten 20 Regelungen im Gerät. Diese Aufteilung nach Verbrauchergruppen verhindert, dass Lastwechsel einer Baugruppe – etwa eine kurzzeitige Prozessorlast – auf die Versorgung empfindlicher Digitalkomponenten durchschlagen.

Ergänzt wird das Konzept durch eine rauscharme Supercapacitor-Stromversorgung, die impulsartige Stromspitzen unmittelbar am Ort des Bedarfs abfängt.

Die Ausgänge im Detail

  • Transformator 1 / Rail 1: 12 V / 8 A über einen 8-Pin-Molex-uP-Anschluss – ausgelegt für Prozessoren mit maximal 70 W TDP
  • Transformator 2 / Rail 2+3: 24-Pin-auf-24-Pin-ATX-Anschluss, sämtliche Ausgänge mit 5 A bis 8 A
  • Transformator 3 / Rail 4+5: zwei 6-Pin-Molex-Ausgänge für Peripherie mit 5 V / 3 A (Summe 5 A) und 12 V / 3 A (Summe 5 A)

Einer der beiden 6-Pin-Ausgänge lässt sich auf Dauerbetrieb („always on") umschalten – ideal für Mainboard-OCXO-Ultra-Clocks oder externe Switches, die unabhängig vom Rechnerzustand permanent versorgt werden sollen.

Standalone-Betrieb: ein Netzteil für das gesamte Digitalsystem

Ein interner Schalter versetzt das SuperATX in den Standalone-Modus mit dauerhafter Ausgangsspannung. Damit wird aus dem ATX-Netzteil eine zentrale Versorgungseinheit für ein komplettes digitales System: Switch, Router, Clock, Streamer und weitere Komponenten lassen sich gemeinsam betreiben. Dank der Vielzahl an Spannungen und Anschlüssen steht praktisch immer der passende Ausgang bereit.

Erdung: Ground Post und Ground Lift Switch

Das SuperATX verfügt über einen Ground Post sowie einen Ground Lift Switch. Über den Ground Post lässt sich das Gerät gezielt an eine Ground Box oder ein anderes Erdungssystem anbinden. Der Ground Lift Switch erlaubt es, die Masseverbindung bei Bedarf aufzutrennen – ein wirksames Werkzeug gegen Brummschleifen in komplexen Systemen mit mehreren geerdeten Komponenten.

Vergoldete Molex-Anschlüsse und kompletter Kabelsatz

Sämtliche Ausgänge sind mit vergoldeten Molex-Steckverbindern in ATX-Ausführung bestückt. Die Vergoldung schützt die Kontaktflächen dauerhaft vor Oxidation und sichert einen langzeitstabilen, verlustarmen Übergang – gerade bei den hohen Strömen eines ATX-Systems ein relevanter Faktor.

Im Lieferumfang enthalten ist ein Kabelsatz mit 100 cm Standardlänge, bestehend aus einem 24-Pin-auf-24-Pin-Kabel, einem 8-Pin-auf-2x-4-Pin-Kabel sowie zwei 2-Pin-Molex-auf-SATA- und 4-Pin-Disk-Kabeln. Das Netzteil ist damit sofort einsatzbereit.
